Part ii - Frequently Asked Questions or FAQWQA

I've gotten a lot of questions about the last post to this blog. Most of them fall in to a couple of different categories - What, When, and How. I though it might be important to answer them here. I can't get to them all in this posts, but keep asking them. I'll get to them eventually...

What -
Q - What was up with all the Quit Smoking Stuff? It kinda confused me. I wasn't sure what you were taking about.
A - You're guys are unbelievable. The first thing I said was, this was going to help a community. If you get nothing else, know that we believe we can help a lot of people. Besides I just happened to be testing the graphics on a campaign I'm working on. What we're doing is much bigger than one conversation with you.

When
When was that last statement made?
The second part of the question and the answer comes from a conversation between me and the CEO of a Trillion dollar bank in 2002. I'd lost it after his response because I was asking them join us in helping the community. Whether it was my response or the topic, helping the community is the what in What We are doing.

How
Ok, thinking back, maybe I was a little "short". I figured since Corporate America employed the most capable people, they would at least be interested in figuring how to do the What. Now imagine, the How being left up to one person - Broke, Black, and Beligured. Well, the How would have taken a moment to figure out.

A - Broke, Black, and Beligured. The question came from me when I was a kid - "what was it like to be a slave", referring to a picture of a relative. As strange as it was to have ever said that or havinge been a human being labeled that, I never wanted to be that. That or a chicken.

Ok that barely answers anything, but maybe we've got some time to spend together.
W.E.B. Duboise often talked about the Duality of Blackness and I've often thought about it's effect on my being whatever I was perceived to be and was to become. If "that" is a potential condtion of my group or family I felt I needed to know more about it.

We must do more to project That as we see it in our cultures, our businesses, and the history we'll leave through our art. I'm working on it. Will you join me? And feel free to help someone quit smoking.
